Remortgage Savings Calculator

See how much a lower rate could save you. Enter your mortgage balance, the years left, your current rate and the new rate you're considering, and the calculator shows the difference each month and over the length of the deal, after any product fee. It works for a remortgage to a new lender or a product transfer with your current one.

Calculate your remortgage saving

Loading the calculator…

These figures are illustrations based on the numbers you enter. They're not a mortgage offer, and the rates available to you will depend on your circumstances and the lender's checks.

Want real rates? We'll compare your lender's offer with the whole market, and there's no fee from us for a product transfer. Speak to an adviser.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Making sense of your results

If your deal has already ended, you're probably on your lender's standard variable rate (SVR), which is usually much higher than the deals on offer. Even switching to your own lender's new rate can save hundreds of pounds a month. Read about product transfers.

If the saving is small, check the fee. A lower rate with a large product fee can cost more overall than a slightly higher rate with no fee, especially on a smaller mortgage or a shorter deal. Try both in the calculator.

If you want to borrow more or change your term, that usually means a full remortgage or a further advance with your lender. See how remortgaging works.

What the calculator doesn't include

  • Early repayment charges, if you leave a deal before it ends
  • Legal and valuation fees on a remortgage, which lenders often cover
  • Our fee: typically £795 for a remortgage, and nothing for a product transfer (see our fees)
  • Changes to rates after a fixed or tracker deal ends

Frequently asked questions

Get answers to common questions about the remortgage calculator.
How accurate is the remortgage calculator?
It uses the standard repayment formula lenders use, so the monthly payments are a close guide for the figures you enter. Your actual payment will depend on the exact rate, fees and term you're offered.
What rate should I enter if my deal has ended?
Enter your lender's standard variable rate. You'll find it on your latest mortgage statement or the letter your lender sent before your deal ended.
Should I add the product fee to my mortgage?
Adding it means you don't pay it upfront, but you pay interest on it for the rest of your mortgage. Paying it upfront is usually cheaper overall if you can afford to.
When should I start looking for a new deal?
Most lenders let you secure a new rate three to six months before your current deal ends, so that's a good time to start comparing.
Does the calculator include early repayment charges?
No. If you're leaving a deal before it ends, check your mortgage offer or statement for any early repayment charge, as it could outweigh the saving.
